Day 1
8:30 Arrival from Vienna to Lviv
9:30 Go on a bus tour right from the airport, visiting popular Lviv attractions such as St. George cathedral from the 18-th century, Lviv University complexes, monuments of the Jewish heritage, and enjoying a beautiful panoramic view from the High Castle observation platform. During the tour, make stop at Lviv Synagogue.
13:30 Check-in at hotel "Grand"
14:00 Lunch at restaurant "Grand"
15:00 Continue with a walk tour around the city centre. View the historic buildings of the 16-17 century including beautiful churches of different confessions – Rome-Catholic, Greek-Catholic, Orthodox, Armenian; the site of medieval Jewish quarter; stop at the Pharmacy museum located in the old pharmacy building operational since 1735 as well as Royal Parlors of the History Museum, walk along Svoboda Avenue to the magnificent Opera House
18:00 Take a tour around the building of Lviv Opera and Ballet theatre
19:30 Dinner at one of central restaurants + a welcoming concert programme
Day 2
5:30 Loading luggage
6:00 Breakfast (pocket lunch)
6:30 Early departure for Pochaiv
9:00-10:30 Excursion to Pochaiv Lavra, the second largest Orthodox monastery in Ukraine (XVI ctr)
10:30-13:00 Transfer to Brody. Brief tour around the city.
13:00-14:30 Visit to Olesko Castle, a notable monument of the 13th-18th cc. architecture, which contains a nice collection of paintings, sculpture and applied arts
14:30 Lunch at restaurant "Hrydnytsia" in Olesko castle.
16:00 Transfer to Chernivtsi
20:00 Arrival to Chernivtsi. Check-in at hotel "Cheremosh"
21:00 Dinner + Bukovina Music Folk Show
Day 3
6:00 Breakfast
6:30 Departure for Medzhibozh
10:00-12:00 Tour around Medzibosh, where the founder of Hasidism, Israel B. Eliezer Ba'al Shem-Tob settled about 1740 and began to disseminate his teachings
15:00-16:00 Lunch at Kamianets-Podilsky
16:00-18 :00 Tour around Kamianets - Podilsky, a delightful old town with an imposing castle of the 18 th century surrounded by shear cliffs and a picturesque old town rising above a horseshoe-shaped meander in the river Smotrych
18:30 Departure for Chernivtsi.
20:30 Dinner at the hotel + P erformance of a traditional Jewish musical group
Day 4
7:00 Breakfast
7:30-9:30 Tour of Chernivtsi and Sadhora district, connected with the name of Hasid's spiritual leader Israel Fridmann. Departure for Khotyn.
10:30-12:30 Tour of Khotyn with its fairy tale-like castle of the 15 th century, which is best known for towering 50-meter high walls. Return to Chernivtsi.
13:30-14:30 Lunch in Chernivtsi
14:30-16:00 Continuation of the guided Chernivtsi tour. Visit to the University, the former residence of the Metropolitan (1864-1882)
16:00-19:00 Free time for shopping and meetings with friends and/or members of the Jewish community (optional). (To be specified closer to the tour date)
19:00 Dinner in Chernivtsi. Departure for the airport for a flight to Vienna (to be specified)
The cost of the programme (incl VAT):
DBL occupancy = 500 EUR
SGL supplement = 119 EUR
The cost includes: accommodation in Lviv (Hotel "Grand", 1 night), Chernivtsi (Hotel "Cheremosh", 2 nights), meals FB (lunches and dinners w/wine), bus transportation along the route, services of a German-speaking guide-interpreter along the route, excursions according to the program, local guide-interpreter services, entrance fees to the museums included in the programme dinner entertainment programs (welcoming programme, Bukovin folk show, Jewish music group).
